UWAGA

Ashwagandha:
Withania somnifera (WS) root and leaf extracts exhibited noteworthy anti-stress and anti-anxiety activity in animal and human studies. WS also improved symptoms of depression and insomnia, though fewer studies investigated these applications. WS may alleviate these conditions predominantly through modulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal and sympathetic-adrenal medullary axes, as well as through GABAergic and serotonergic pathways.
While benefits were seen in the reviewed studies, significant variability in the WS extracts examined prevents a consensus on the optimum WS preparation or dosage for treating neuropsychiatric conditions.

Krokus:

The phytochemistry of the most important bioactive compounds in Crocus sativus L. such as crocin, crocetin, picrocrocin, and safranal and also dozens of other compounds was studied and identified by various physicochemical methods. Isolated compounds and various extracts have proven their pharmacological efficacy at the molecular level and signaling pathways both in vitro and in vivo. In addition, toxicity studies and clinical trials were analyzed. The research results highlighted the various pharmacological potentials such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, cytotoxic, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, antidepressant, hypolipidemic, and antihyperglycemic properties and protector of retinal lesions. Due to its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, saffron has proven effective as a natural food preservative. Starting from the traditional uses for the treatment of several diseases, the bioactive compounds of Crocus sativus L. have proven their effectiveness in modern pharmacological research. [2]

Chmiel:

The use of Humulus lupulus (hops) in traditional medicine as a mild sedative arose from the experience of drowsiness and chronic forms of fatigue that the pickers and those who worked with or handled hop inflorescences manifested.

Hop bioactive compounds can exhibit either bacteriostatic or bactericidal activity depending on the bacterial growth conditions.

Hop bitter acids affect cancer through the induction of controlled cell death in malignant cells. This was first reported by Tobe and coauthors in 1997 when they observed the ability of humulone to induce apoptosis in leukaemia cells. Lupulone, colupulone, and especially hexahydrocolupulone, a semysinthetic derivative of colupulone, inhibit the growth of several human cancer cell lines.

Hops contain several biomolecules with high antioxidant potential such as flavonols, found in the strobili mainly in glycosidic form, such as rutin and astragalin. [3]

Melisa:
Melissa officinalis is a medicinal plant rich in biologically active compounds which is used worldwide for its therapeutic effects. Chemical studies on its composition have shown that it contains mainly flavonoids, terpenoids, phenolic acids, tannins, and essential oil. The main active constituents of Melissa officinalis are volatile compounds (geranial, neral, citronellal and geraniol), triterpenes (ursolic acid and oleanolic acid), phenolic acids (rosmarinic acid, caffeic acid and chlorogenic acid), and flavonoids (quercetin, rhamnocitrin, and luteolin). According to the biological studies, the essential oil and extracts of Melissa officinalis have active compounds that determine many pharmacological effects with potential medical uses. [4]
